Tributes pour in for 'Something in the Rain' director Ahn Pan-seok, master of Korean melodrama

Veteran television director Ahn Pan-seok, celebrated for his acclaimed Korean melodramas, passed away on Wednesday after battling a brain hemorrhage. The 64-year-old director succumbed to his condition just two weeks after reports indicated he was on the path to recovery. This sudden loss has elicited an outpouring of sorrow from his peers within the Korean entertainment sector.

Ahn's latest work, "Love Doctor," set to air on October, is poised to be remembered as his final directorial endeavor. The production team behind the show confirmed his demise in an official statement, expressing deep sorrow over the news. Funeral arrangements are to be kept strictly private, with no media notification. Initial news of Ahn's health crisis surfaced on July 31.

At the time, Studio Genie, the production house, reported that the director was "currently recovering," and that filming for "Love Doctor" had already been finalized, encompassing editing, hence there would be no disruption to the drama's broadcast schedule. Ahn had been diagnosed with lung cancer the previous year and had been undergoing treatment.
