Tolle pitches eight-inning gem, Durbin hits grand slam as Red Sox beat Blue Jays 7-0

Boston left-handed pitcher Payton Tolle displayed a strong performance on Thursday, delivering an eight-inning shutout against the Blue Jays and allowing only two hits throughout his six and two-thirds innings on the mound. This dominant effort, combined with a timely eighth-inning grand slam from Caleb Durbin, led the Red Sox to a comfortable 7-0 victory over Toronto.

Tolle's impressive performance marked his seventh consecutive start where the Red Sox clinched a win, showcasing his consistency and effectiveness since his opening start on March 31. In his 91-pitch outing at Rogers Centre, Tolle managed to issue just one walk, while striking out four batters and recording five outs via weak pop-ups in foul territory.

The Red Sox capitalized on their early lead, scoring in the first inning when Wilyer Abreu walked with two outs and later scored on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s double to right field. They extended their lead in the ninth inning, adding two more runs to the score.

Despite the Blue Jays' attempts, Tolle's strong pitching kept the Red Sox in control throughout the game. He faced the minimum number of 23 Blue Jays, posting a solid 2.00 ERA over his time on the mound. The Red Sox, currently sitting at a 65-56 record, utilized Tolle's dominance to secure their win, leaving Toronto with a 59-64 record.
