TMPD nets 48 undocumented foreign nationals across Tshwane

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) apprehended 48 undocumented foreign nationals during enforcement operations across Pretoria North, Centurion, Sinoville and Cullinan on Wednesday. This action was part of ongoing initiatives to enforce by-laws, bolster public safety, and ensure adherence to national laws. TMPD officials performed routine inspections and enforcement activities in the specified locations, leading to the discovery that 48 individuals were unable to present valid documents proving their legal presence in South Africa.

The department emphasized that these operations aimed to strengthen compliance and maintain order within the city's communities. "The primary objective of these operations is to enforce by-laws, enhance public safety and ensure compliance with national legislation," the TMPD declared. All arrests were conducted in compliance with the law, specifically the Immigration Act (Act No. 13 of 2002).

The individuals arrested have been transferred to the Department of Home Affairs' Immigration Services for further investigation and potential legal proceedings. The TMPD reaffirmed its dedication to addressing by-law contraventions and supporting overall law enforcement efforts in Tshwane.
