Thüringer Landtag: Ministerpräsidentin Wagenknecht? Was Höckes Offerte bedeutet

Thüringen's Minister-President candidate Björn Höcke proposed an offer to Social Democratic party leader Katrin Wagenknecht, suggesting she become Thuringia's Minister-President. Höcke, the head of the AfD in Thuringia, presented this proposal in a video on social media, although his tone and choice of words hinted more at a provocation than a serious offer. Despite the provocative nature of Höcke's offer, Wagenknecht politely declined, stating that Höcke's proposal was neither honest nor serious.

Wagenknecht had previously signaled her party's willingness to support an AfD Minister-President in Saxony-Anhalt during the September 6th Landtag election. However, she emphasized that a party with around 40% support could not be excluded, and that a 'wall' of opposition had collapsed. Höcke's proposal echoed her claim that the BSW is "the youngest cartel party" in Thuringia, supporting Minister-President Mario Voigt (CDU).

Höcke claimed that Wagenknecht often commented wisely on contemporary events and urged her to take political responsibility. He proposed that she could become Thuringia's Minister-President if a constructive motion of no-confidence was passed against Voigt. However, Höcke's proposal was seen as a tactical move by the AfD, as the party lacked the necessary majority in the Erfurt Landtag.

Additionally, two-thirds of BSW representatives in Thuringia oppose the party's federal leadership, making it unlikely for Höcke to secure the post. Wagenknecht called Höcke's approach "politics like the old parties," and proposed a public duel with Höcke instead.
