Thailand U17 women beat Poland 3-1 to reach volleyball world top eight

Thailand's U17 women's volleyball team secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship by defeating Poland 3-1 in a thrilling four-set match. The championship is taking place in Santiago, Chile.

In the crucial last-16 round on August 13th, Thailand, who had finished fourth in Group A, faced off against Poland, the winners of Group C. The team from Thailand made an impressive start, taking control of the first two sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-21. However, Poland was not to be outdone and fought back effectively, winning the third set 25-10 and narrowing Thailand's lead to 2-1.

The fourth set proved to be a closely contested battle as both teams traded points and the lead back and forth. The score remained level at 20-20 before Thailand ultimately emerged victorious with a final score of 25-23, clinching a 3-1 win over Poland. This result secured Thailand's advancement to the quarter-finals of the world championship.

Thailand will now face Taiwan in the quarter-finals, where they will seek to continue their strong performance. Poland, on the other hand, will move on to the classification round, where they will face Venezuela in the 9th-16th ranking spot.
