Student wasn’t run over, says defence in senior cop’s murder trial

IPOH: The defence in senior police officer Nazri Abdul Razak's murder trial argues that the 17-year-old victim, Zaharif Affendi Zamrie, was not run over by the vehicle driven by Nazri. Lead defence counsel M Athimulan presented forensic and medical evidence that refutes the eyewitnesses' claim, stating that the victim's injuries did not indicate being run over.

The defence contends that the injuries were consistent with falling from his motorcycle upon impact, rather than being intentionally run over. Athimulan also highlighted the importance of black box data from the vehicle involved in the incident, arguing that it is crucial to reconstruct the event and determine whether the accused intended to cause harm.

The defence maintains that the prosecution's case lacks the necessary evidence to prove malicious intent and that the eyewitness accounts are unreliable and influenced by perception and social media.
