Ryanair adds Google to its dual-cloud flight plan

Ryanair, the Irish budget airline, has extended its partnership with Google Cloud for five more years, joining its existing five-year deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The airline aims to deploy Google Workspace and Google Cloud services across its 35,000-strong workforce as it strives to reach 300 million passengers annually by 2034.

The new agreement includes Google's Gemini Enterprise agentic AI platform, which Ryanair plans to use for automating decisions, optimizing flight crew logistics, and enhancing staff productivity. Additionally, Google DeepMind's AlphaEvolve will refine algorithms, while WeatherNext will aid in forecasting and maintenance planning.

Ryanair's CEO, Eddie Wilson, highlighted the importance of robust infrastructure resilience in supporting the airline's ambitious growth plans. He expressed confidence in Google's dual-cloud strategy, stating that it ensures critical systems can seamlessly switch between providers in case of an outage, thereby maintaining flight operations and customer services.

Google Cloud's Maureen Costello noted that the airline's agreement demonstrates the effective deployment of generative AI and modern collaboration tools to scale securely, reduce operational costs, and redefine the travel experience.
