QIA announces investment in Lesha Bank fund

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) recently announced its investment in Lesha Bank's Lesha Qatar Opportunities Fund. The investment is part of QIA's Active Asset Management Initiative, introduced in 2024 to form alliances with leading global and local asset managers possessing GCC expertise. Under this initiative, QIA reinvests in companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange through its partners.

The collaboration with Lesha Bank demonstrates QIA's dedication to supporting Qatar's thriving local economy. Mohammed Saif al-Sowaidi, QIA's CEO, expressed satisfaction with the expanded initiative, stating that the partnership reflects their commitment to enhancing Qatar's financial sector and providing more opportunities for local asset managers.

Mohammed Ismail al-Emadi, Group CEO of Lesha Bank, welcomed QIA's investment, praising it as a strong endorsement of their investment strategy and capabilities. Lesha Bank, founded in 2008, is a Shariah-compliant investment bank based in Qatar. Its primary objective is to generate capital growth and income by investing in a diverse portfolio of shares listed on the QSE, adhering to Shariah guidelines.

The bank aims to become a global leader in Shariah-compliant investment banking, offering a wide range of investment solutions, including alternative investments, asset management, and investment advisory services. With approximately QR15 billion in assets under management, Lesha Bank plans to expand its asset base as part of its long-term growth strategy.
