Penang PH sticks to decision to accept BN, Umno

George Town, Penang - Penang's Pakatan Harapan (PH) remains steadfast in its decision to work with the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno, despite opposition from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) adviser Lim Guan Eng. Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow affirmed the coalition's stance, stating that the decision was not questioned during a recent engagement session involving the state coalition.

When questioned about the matter, Chow emphasized that no one raised objections to the decision, adding that it was not questioned at all. The chairman's remarks reinforced Penang PH's position following its decision to collaborate with BN and Umno at the state level. DAP's criticism of Penang PH's electoral cooperation with BN has recently intensified, with Lim questioning the two parties' commitment to maintaining unity within the state's government.

Lim described Reezal Merican's statements on Umno-DAP ties as "not just unfriendly but harsh" towards DAP and PKR, accusing the latter of unfairly claiming that the parties were engaging in identity politics. Following this, Penang PH reaffirmed its commitment to the partnership with BN, stating that it remains important ahead of the next general election.
