Over 2.4 million S'poreans to get up to S$600 special payment from Sep. 9, 2026

More than 2.4 million Singaporeans will receive a special payment ranging from S$400 to S$600 starting September 9, 2026, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF), which announced the news on August 13. The special payment is intended for adult Singaporeans living in the country with an assessable income of up to S$100,000 and owning no more than one property.

The exact payout amount varies based on the recipient's assessable income and the annual value of their property. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong first introduced the special payment during Budget 2026. Initially, eligible Singaporeans were set to receive between S$200 and S$400. However, in April 2026, Senior Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Siow announced that the payment would be increased by S$200 to better support lower-income individuals.

Those who meet the criteria will automatically receive their payments on September 9 and can verify their eligibility on the GovBenefits website. Recipients will get an SMS notification before and after the payment is credited to their accounts. A letter confirming eligibility will also be mailed to the address listed on the individual's identity card for those without a registered mobile number through Singpass.
