Osun Guber: Kwara CP charges deployed personnel on discipline, neutrality

The Osun State Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has rejected the use of uncustomised ballot papers and result sheets for the upcoming governorship election on August 15, 2026. The council, representing registered political parties, stated that employing such electoral materials could erode public trust in the electoral process.

This decision came after a court ruling on July 22, 2026, which the IPAC believes has significant implications for the preparation of election materials. In a statement, the council's caretaker committee chairman, Odesola Oluseye Titus, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply with the court judgment and ensure all election materials meet the required standards.

Titus emphasized that customised ballot papers and result sheets are essential for maintaining the credibility and transparency of the election. He warned that using uncustomised materials, particularly after the court ruling, would be unacceptable and called for accountability and adherence to the Electoral Act 2026. The IPAC chairman also expressed disappointment that INEC had not acted on the court judgment earlier and urged the commission to take immediate corrective measures.

Titus alleged that Pauline Ugoyenka, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ebonyi State, was currently in Osogbo despite not being listed among the RECs deployed to Osun State. He demanded that the INEC Chairman investigate and sanction her if she had breached any electoral rules. The IPAC chairman stressed that the council would continue to monitor developments ahead of the election and advocate for a fair and transparent electoral process.
