Osun election: ‘Expelled members’ – Accord reacts to Imumolen’s endorsement of APC’s Oyebamiji

The national leadership of Accord has expressed disapproval of Chris Imumolen's endorsement of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election. Accord asserts that Imumolen, a former presidential candidate, holds no electoral value and is merely a political hustler seeking "stomach infrastructure".

The party's National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, dismissed Imumolen's title as "factional chairman" as a "mischievous delusion" as the party has no factions. Accord maintains that Osun State is a stronghold for the party, and the people will overwhelmingly vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming election on August 15. Accord believes they will secure a landslide victory, bolstering their position in the state and delivering democracy dividends to the people.

The party accused APC of resorting to violence, harassment, intimidation, and the use of federal institutions, particularly the police and EFCC, to suppress the Osun State government and its Accord members. Accord called for INEC to conduct a credible election and for security agencies to be impartial and professional. The international community, including the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, Africa Union, ECOWAS, USA, and UK, were urged to strictly monitor the election and sanction anyone found to have violated electoral norms.

Accord expressed confidence in their candidate, Governor Adeleke, citing his achievements and transformational leadership.
