Northern Minister commends Audit Service

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John Mburidiba, expressed his appreciation for the diligent efforts of the Auditor-General, Dr Pamela Graham, and the Audit Service in safeguarding public funds and ensuring that state resources are utilized appropriately. Mr Mburidiba highlighted the crucial role of the Audit Service, especially as it oversees public institutions across various levels in the country.

The Northern Regional Minister made these remarks when Dr Graham paid a courtesy call at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) in Tamale. Dr Graham visited the region to engage key stakeholders on strengthening public accountability within government institutions and to foster collaboration between the Audit Service and regional authorities.

She aimed to deepen stakeholders' understanding of the Auditor-General's mandate to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible management of public resources. Mr Mburidiba commended Dr Graham for choosing the Northern Region as the initial region to visit since her appointment as Auditor-General, calling it a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between the Audit Service and public institutions.

He emphasized the importance of regular engagements with stakeholders in addressing financial management challenges and promoting accountability among government agencies. The Minister stressed that effective auditing and financial oversight are essential for protecting the public purse, preventing financial mismanagement, and ensuring value for money in the implementation of government programs and projects.

Mr Mburidiba urged public institutions to strengthen their internal financial controls and adhere to relevant financial management laws and regulations. He also assured the Auditor-General of the NRCC's commitment to supporting efforts to promote transparency and financial discipline. Dr Graham explained during her briefing that her visit was part of the Audit Service's efforts to engage stakeholders and strengthen collaboration in fulfilling its mandate.

She emphasized the Audit Service's role in protecting the public purse, promoting accountability, and ensuring the efficient and responsible management of public resources for the benefit of Ghanaians. Dr Graham reiterated the Audit Service's commitment to working closely with the NRCC and other stakeholders to strengthen public financial management and accountability.

She assured the Minister that her officers were prepared to deepen collaboration to ensure that public resources effectively support development in communities nationwide.
