Nightdive's System Shock remake is coming to VR

Nightdive Studios is set to release System Shock VR, a VR adaptation of the classic game, according to Steam's description. Developed by Flat2VR Studios, the remake retains the original story of Edward Diego offering you a deal after hacking into TriOp, leading to the Citadel Station incident. The original game is available on GOG and the Humble Store for $15, with a Steam key also provided.

While the VR market remains small, with less than 2% of Steam users owning VR headsets, System Shock VR could still be a worthwhile addition to the genre. However, publisher Vertigo Games has faced challenges in the VR space, even closing a studio shortly after launching Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, which peaked at only 233 concurrent players.

Despite these challenges, Nightdive has expressed confidence in System Shock VR, noting that the resources required may be minimal. The game is currently available for wishlisting on Steam with no release date announced yet.
