Nigerian youths not burden – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has spoken out on International Youth Day, emphasizing that Nigerian youths are not a burden but rather the greatest asset of the nation. Obi celebrated the courage, creativity, energy, and potential of Nigerian young people, asserting that they are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but are essential to Nigeria's success today.

He highlighted the need for a country where young Nigerians do not have to leave the country to realize their potential, advocating for increased investment in quality education, skills development, healthcare, technology, sports, and decent employment opportunities. Obi pointed out a recent flight he took where both the pilots and crew members were young men in their twenties, underscoring the competence, confidence, and professionalism of Nigerian youth.

He noted that across various sectors including football, technology, medicine, aviation, entrepreneurship, academia, and the creative industries, Nigerian youth continue to demonstrate immense talent. However, the lack of deliberate investment and an enabling environment is the primary obstacle to their flourishing. Celebrating International Youth Day, Obi reiterated his commitment to creating a Nigeria where every young person has the opportunity to learn, work, create, lead, and prosper, emphasizing that with the youth's active participation, a new and improved Nigeria is attainable.
