Mumbai: Kherwadi Police Register FIR After MHADA Konkan Board File On Prime Panchpakhadi Plot In Thane Goes Missing

Mumbai, August 13, 2026: The Kherwadi police have filed a case against an unknown individual following the disappearance of an official file related to Plot 67, a prime location in Thane. The file, which was once recorded by the Konkan Board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in Bandra East, has gone missing from the records.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the file's disappearance and the person responsible for its vanishing. The FIR alleges that the file could have vanished or been taken between 1990 and 2023.

RTI request triggered the search for the missing file. Shyam Pandurangrao More, a 36-year-old authorized officer and senior clerk working as Property Manager-1 with the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board, was handling the records of Panchpakhadi, Majiwada, Vartaknagar, and Shivainagar colonies. The responsibility was previously carried out by Sachin Chavan.

The issue came to light after Jayraja Bolar Putran submitted a document request under the RTI Act on March 23, 2023, concerning Plots 67 and 68. Chavan attempted to locate the files within the records but was unable to do so, resulting in the applicant turning to the First Appellate Authority and eventually the Maharashtra State Information Commission.

On May 26, 2026, Chavan informed the Commission that the documents were still untraceable. The Commission ordered a comprehensive search and instructed to file an FIR if the file could not be found. More discovered a scanned copy pertaining to Plot 68, but the original file for Plot 67 remained missing. He then approached the police on July 21 to investigate the matter.
