Mumbai Airport Customs Arrest 2 For Allegedly Smuggling 14 Kg Hydroponic Weed Worth ₹4.91 Crore From Bangkok At CSMIA

Mumbai Airport Customs officials have apprehended two individuals, including a woman, for allegedly smuggling 14 kg of hydroponic weed from Bangkok. The suspects, Mumbai residents Rushali Bagul (26) and Azhar Hussain (34), were intercepted upon their arrival from Bangkok Don Mueang at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Customs officers discovered seven vacuum-sealed plastic packets containing hydroponic weed, a narcotic substance under the NDPS Act, in one of their trolley bags. The seized quantity of weed, weighing 14 kg, is valued at approximately Rs 4.91 crore. Additionally, the officers confiscated the suspects' passports, boarding passes, and two mobile phones.

Both individuals acknowledged their involvement in the alleged activities, including knowledge, possession, non-declaration, concealment, recovery, and seizure of the seized goods. The preliminary investigation has revealed potential involvement of other individuals, who are yet to be identified and apprehended. The investigation is currently at a very preliminary stage, and authorities are working to trace and apprehend key associates of the accused.
