Moscow claims it knows nothing about Kyiv’s new peace proposals

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has stated that Moscow is unaware of Ukraine's new peace proposals submitted to the United States, according to Interfax. When questioned if Russia had been informed of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposals via diplomatic channels, Ryabkov confirmed that Moscow had not received any information.

Zelenskyy revealed on August 11 that Ukraine's negotiating team had presented proposals to the United States to enhance pressure on Russia and expedite the end of the war. The president also mentioned receiving a report from the negotiating team regarding their discussions with the U.S. side. Ukraine aims for increased defense capabilities and expects the United States to leverage its influence to pressure Russia, alter its approach, and prevent further prolongation of the conflict.

In a CNN interview on August 12, Zelenskyy expressed the need for greater U.S. involvement in the peace plan and criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for not wanting to end the war. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously emphasized the requirement for "new ideas" to overcome the current stalemate in peace talks.
