Milwaukee Brewers sign Korean high school player

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed a Korean high school player. SJ Lee, the club's Korea-based scout, announced the signing of Chungdam High School outfielder Shin Hee-ju on Thursday. Details about the financial terms of Shin's contract were not made public.

As of Thursday's game at the Bonghwang National High School Baseball Tournament in Seoul, Shin had a batting average of .341, with 16 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in 24 games. The 175 cm, 72 kg player displayed a strong contact, power, and speed, along with the ability to handle infield duties. Lee emphasized Shin's eye for hitting and his versatility.

The scout mentioned that Shin's size might have made him go unnoticed, but noted that the Brewers are among the smallest teams in Major League Baseball, so they do not prioritize height. Lee referred to Shin as a "hidden gem" and expressed confidence in his potential to succeed in Major League Baseball, given the club's history of developing young talent.
