Military pressure triggers 213% rise in terrorist surrenders – Army

Military operations under Operation Hadin Kai have led to a staggering 213 percent surge in terrorist surrenders across the North-East region in just one week, according to the military. Joint Task Force spokesperson Capt Mohammed Goni disclosed this increase in a statement from Maiduguri, Borno State.

Goni attributed the surge to intensified ground operations, targeting terrorist strongholds, and disrupting their supply chains. Two high-profile terrorists surrendered on Wednesday, delivering weapons, ammunition, and other military gear. The recovered items underscore the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorists' operational capacity.

Additional surrenders occurred on August 7, 2026, at Bama's 202 Battalion, where more terrorists hesitated to join their enclaves due to internal disputes and sustained military pressure. Screened and handed over for further action, the captured members reinforced the military's multi-pronged approach, combining ground assaults, precision strikes, and logistics disruption.

Goni emphasized that these surrenders were part of an ongoing trend, not isolated events, as the military weakened terrorists' ability to regroup and replenish. He urged the public to support ongoing operations by providing credible information and called on terrorists to abandon violence and utilize surrender channels.
