Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Says AI Won't Eliminate Jobs, Predicts Small Businesses Will Thrive With 'Superintelligence Agents'

Menlo Park, California, August 13, 2026: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has stated that artificial intelligence (AI) won't result in a reduction of overall jobs, predicting that small businesses will thrive with the aid of AI-powered superintelligence agents. Zuckerberg's views were detailed in a 6,500-word manifesto titled "The Future Is for Everyone: The Path to a Positive AI Future", published on Meta's website on August 10.

He expressed concern over those who believe AI will eliminate most jobs and humanity's relevance, arguing that this notion is inherently problematic. "Company sizes may shrink, just as they did in the transition from industrial giants to tech companies. But this doesn't mean fewer jobs overall," he commented. Zuckerberg Envisions Bigger Role For Small Businesses The co-founder of Facebook believes that small groups of people will eventually be able to operate large-scale companies with the help of AI superintelligence agents.

"I expect we will start seeing small numbers of people with personal superintelligence agents able to run companies at significant scale. In the future, small businesses will continue to be the backbone of the economy, but each small business will be able to have a much larger impact," he posited. This prediction suggests that while AI may alter the size and structure of companies, small businesses could leverage the technology to amplify their influence.

Concerns From Other Tech Executives Zuckerberg's optimistic outlook on AI's impact on employment contrasts with warnings from other technology leaders. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has expressed concern that AI could potentially eliminate half of entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years. He has identified repetitive but variable work in sectors like law, consulting, administration and finance as particularly susceptible to AI.

Amodei also suggested that companies might use AI to cut costs by employing fewer people, particularly in roles involving document review that is both repetitive and contextually varied.
