LS ELECTRIC Wins CSA Testing Qualification

LS ELECTRIC has secured a significant qualification that permits its in-house power equipment testing facility to carry out certification-related tests under the supervision of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). This comes after the company's Power Testing & Technology Institute (PT&T) received Witness Testing Laboratory (WMTL) recognition from CSA.

The qualification allows LS ELECTRIC to perform specification tests on power equipment at PT&T in the presence of CSA representatives, with the results potentially used to obtain CSA certification, thus cutting down the time and cost associated with the process. CSA certification is highly valued for companies aiming to enter the Canadian and broader North American electrical equipment markets, as it is also recognized by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).

Analysts believe that LS ELECTRIC's newly acquired qualification will enhance its competitiveness in North America, a region witnessing substantial demand growth in AI data centers, renewable energy projects, and power grid upgrades. The company's ability to conduct certification-related tests internally is anticipated to provide greater flexibility in responding to local customers while reducing dependence on external testing facilities.

PT&T is designed to conduct tests on a wide range of power equipment, from low-voltage to ultra-high-voltage, including high-power and high-voltage testing as well as compliance with international standards. By integrating North American standards into the product development phase, LS ELECTRIC aims to identify potential certification issues earlier, thereby shortening the lead time from product development to certification.

The move is seen as more than just an administrative advantage, as an in-house testing capability enables the company to respond swiftly to customized specifications and accelerate product improvements. LS ELECTRIC plans to leverage these capabilities to broaden its presence in North American data centers, industrial facilities, and large-scale power grid projects.
