Ketu North Assembly supports 16 PWDs with livelihood, educational items

The Ketu North Municipal Assembly has bestowed various vocational and educational aid items upon 16 individuals with disabilities in the Municipality, aiming to bolster their economic autonomy and scholarly progression. The aid, granted by Rev. Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, was sourced from the five percent allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) earmarked for persons with disabilities.

Rev. Amenaki elucidated that this initiative is a part of the government's endeavours to foster social cohesion and empower vulnerable cohorts, particularly persons with disabilities, to become economically viable contributors. He disclosed that the items were meticulously chosen based on the beneficiaries' requisites and desires, to foster enduring income generation avenues and enhance their life quality.

Of the 16 beneficiaries, three received metal vessels furnished with knitting machines, radiator repair tools, and barbering paraphernalia. Two others were bestowed with cassava grating devices. Two additional beneficiaries received industrial sewing machines, while one beneficiary received a corn mill machine, slated for installation by the Assembly.

The Assembly also presented two bespoke motorized tricycles, two laptops with Braille paper for individuals with visual impairment, and a tricycle to other beneficiaries. Rev. Amenaki affirmed that the Assembly would perpetually oversee the beneficiaries and provide indispensable aid to ensure that the items were judiciously employed, thereby generating sustainable revenues.

He underscored that this initiative aligns with the government's overarching commitment to social welfare and inclusive evolution, wherein persons with disabilities are accorded the chance to actively partake in the socio-economic evolution of the nation. He exhorted the beneficiaries to take proper care of the items and utilize them for their intended purposes to augment their livelihoods and aid their kin.

Some beneficiaries, who conversed with the Ghana News Agency, expressed gratitude to the MCE, the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, and the government for the succor. They declared that the items would aid them in establishing or augmenting their businesses, attaining financial independence, and contributing to the progress of their communities.

They solicited for sustained support and oversight to enable them to surmount impediments associated with the operation of their enterprises.
