Kaun Banega Crorepati 18: Who Is 'World's Smallest Doctor' Ganesh Baraiah? From Rs 5 Lakh Circus Offer To Winning Hearts On Amitabh Bachchan's Show

Amitabh Bachchan's popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 introduced the World's Smallest Doctor, Ganesh Baraiah, to the show's hot seat. Born in Gorkhi village, Gujarat, Ganesh's remarkable journey to becoming a doctor was marked by both challenges and triumphs. At just 3 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 18 kg, Ganesh was diagnosed with dwarfism and a locomotor disability affecting 72% of his body.

Despite these obstacles, he achieved academic success, scoring 87% in Class 12 and securing an All India Rank of 233 in NEET. However, Ganesh initially faced rejection for an MBBS course due to his disabilities. With the support of his school principal, Dalpat Katariya, Ganesh challenged the decision in court, ultimately winning the case under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

This pivotal moment opened the door for Ganesh to pursue his dream, and he now works in the paediatrics department of a hospital in Bhavnagar. During his appearance on KBC 18, Ganesh not only showcased his intelligence but also opened up about a poignant childhood incident. In 1982, a circus group offered his father a staggering Rs 5 lakh to take Ganesh away from his studies.

Despite the tempting offer, Ganesh's father chose education over wealth, stating, "Mere pita ne paise ke bajay padhayi ko chuna." This decision paved the way for Ganesh's extraordinary journey to becoming the World's Smallest Doctor.
