Karachi Mayor Announces New Rs. 1 Billion Flyover

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has initiated construction of a new flyover at Nishtar Road and Garden Chowrangi, Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced on Wednesday. This Rs. 1 billion project will link the Lyari Expressway with Garden Road and Nishtar Road, aiming to alleviate congestion at the busy intersection and enhance access to the Old City and major commercial areas.

At a KMC Engineering Department meeting, Wahab directed departments to finalize technical and administrative requirements and expedite the tendering process, emphasizing the urgency of commencing construction promptly. KMC Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffer stated that the project is slated for completion within one year, with the final timeline contingent on the chosen contractor.

The flyover is anticipated to enhance traffic flow between Garden, Nishtar Road, Saddar, the Old City, and adjacent commercial and residential zones, alleviating pressure on existing roads frequented by thousands of daily commuters and traders. Wahab highlighted the flyover as part of KMC's comprehensive strategy to enhance Karachi's traffic infrastructure and connectivity.
