Incumbent Western North NPP Regional Chairman withdraws from seeking re-election

Benjamin Armah, the current Western North Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced his withdrawal from the race to retain his position ahead of the party’s regional executive election. In a statement released in Sefwi Wiawso, Mr Armah said his decision came after much thought and discussions with his loved ones, friends, and party stakeholders.

He emphasized that his choice was not made lightly and was driven by the need to prioritize unity, stability, and the party’s overall strength over personal ambitions at this crucial juncture. “This is a time for unity, not division; consolidation, not fragmentation; and collective purpose, not personal ambition,” he stated. In gratitude, Armah thanked all party members throughout the region for their support, especially the Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, delegates, grassroots activists, elders, and patrons who backed his candidacy.

He assured them that he would wholeheartedly support Mr McDaniels Nyame, describing him as a committed party member with a proven track record of loyalty to NPP traditions, values, organizational competence, and political maturity. Armah highlighted his close association with Mr Nyame over the years, praising his dedication to the NPP and asserting that he possesses the temperament, experience, organizational capacity, and leadership qualities necessary to strengthen the region’s position and lead it through the upcoming political challenges.

Despite his decision to step down from the contest, Armah clarified that it did not equate to stepping away from his involvement in party activities. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to the NPP and pledged to continue serving in whatever capacity required, demonstrating dedication, humility, loyalty, and integrity. Armah called upon supporters, delegates, and party executives who stood by him to redirect their confidence, energy, and support towards Mr Nyame.

He urged the Western North NPP to unite, aiming to bolster the party’s prospects in the 2028 general election. The Western North NPP is scheduled to conduct its regional executive elections soon as the party embarks on reorganizing itself in preparation for the forthcoming general election.
