Illegals busted running gambling outlet under guise of grocery shop

Malaysia's Immigration Department has dismantled an illegal gambling operation masquerading as a grocery store in Taman Serdang Perdana, Seri Kembangan. The unlicensed gambling den had been in business for four months, operating from 9am to 3am each day. Operatives received intel and conducted surveillance for a month before making the raid, which took place yesterday.

Six individuals were apprehended, including a caretaker woman, three men from Bangladesh, and two women from Indonesia, aged between 20 and 45. The operation started at 3pm and was uncovered following a month-long intelligence operation based on public information and surveillance. The caretaker had overstayed her visa, while the other five foreigners lacked valid passes or travel documents to stay in the country.

The detainees were handed over to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further proceedings. The raid also resulted in the seizure of eight tablets, an Indonesian passport, a Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport issued by Indonesia, a copy of the business licence, and gambling vouchers. Two men, including a Pakistani national, have been summoned to appear at the department to aid investigations.
