I mentored Azikel refinery boss Eruani from ‘small boy’ to big businessman — Patience Jonathan

Former First Lady Patience Jonathan narrated how she mentored Azikel Group's Group President, Dr Azibapu Eruani, from a "small boy" to a prominent businessman. Patience spoke about her role in his rapid ascension to the ranks of Nigeria's wealthiest entrepreneurs during a video call while touring Azikel Refinery in Obunagha, Bayelsa State.

She highlighted that she personally introduced Eruani to billionaire businessmen Aliko Dangote and Aminu Dantata, encouraging him to emulate their success. Patience also recounted her prayers for Eruani's success, which eventually materialized when he secured three refinery licenses during the Buhari administration, defying initial resistance from the APC government.

The inspection of the refinery's Crude Distillation Unit, a key milestone in the $1bn project, coincided with Patience's remarks. The 25,000 barrels-per-day plant, expected to be Nigeria's second-largest full-scale refinery, is set to boost economic growth, create jobs, and stimulate investment in the Niger Delta. Bayelsa State's Governor Douye Diri and the Niger Delta Development Commission lauded the project, urging the public, especially youths, to capitalize on the emerging opportunities.
