Hundreds attended Tiranga Yatra in Kashmir; LG says ‘sends a clear message’

On August 12, 2026, hundreds of residents in Kashmir gathered for the Tiranga Yatra during the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram. The highlight of the event was the rally in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, led by Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha. Sinha emphasized that the Tiranga Yatra symbolizes India's consciousness and pride, and serves as a message for the country to continue moving forward.

The J&K administration initiated the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign in 2022, aiming to foster a sense of closeness, respect, and emotional connection towards the tricolour among all Indians. Sinha emphasized that the convergence of Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram marks the beginning of a new era, where J&K will be filled with self-confidence and march resolutely towards the future, with "Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara" being a guiding principle for every citizen.

He urged the public to bear collective and personal responsibility for shaping J&K and India's future, ensuring that the Tiranga is not only displayed at every home but also in their thoughts, character, and actions. The slogan, "Let us resolve that the sacred spirit of 'Vande Mataram' will reflect in every action, every decision, and the discharge of every responsibility," encapsulates Sinha's vision for a J&K where the colors of the Tiranga are visible in the values of life.

This century, according to Sinha, belongs to India, marking the era of India's self-confidence, courage, and immortal national consciousness.
