Heavy Rain In MP: Bhopal Records 1.5 Inches, Sehore Crops Damaged

Sehore, Madhya Pradesh experienced two days of heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc on the region. Over 700 acres of crops were obliterated, drowning villages in a sea of water. The village of Charanlal transformed into a pond, leaving many residents without homes. TT Nagar and Darji Mohalla were submerged knee-deep, with shops sustaining damage to 100 quintals of food grains.

Traders' milk dairies also fell victim to the deluge. Locals accused administrative officers of arriving briefly before disappearing without offering any aid. In Chhatri and neighboring areas, soybean crops were reduced to ashes in 700 acres. Ramsingh Mewara, Tomar, Phulwati Bai, Hanuman Singh, and Sitaram each lost crops ranging from 12 to 45 acres.

The deluge claimed farmlands of more than 150 farmers. Shyampura, Doraha, Gopalpura, Khastakhedi, Hathiyakheda, Hinauti, Jharkheda, Satorniya, Chhapri, Ghatpalasi, and additional villages bore the brunt of the flood. Farmers demanded that the collector assess the losses they sustained, alleging that the government has provided no assistance.

The collector, Balaguru K, ordered the establishment of relief camps for floods, but no action was taken. Sub-divisional magistrate Tanmay Verma claimed that the district administration had set up camps, supplied food, and began assessing the farmers' losses, promising compensation upon submission of a report.
