Google Pixel Watch 5 Brings Faster Hardware and Built-In Gemini Smarts

Google has introduced the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series, enhancing health tracking, storage capacity, and featuring built-in Gemini Intelligence. Available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, the smartwatch comes with Wi-Fi and LTE options. Google has retained the round AMOLED display design while increasing peak brightness to 3,000 nits.

The watch possesses IP68 dust and water resistance, and an 5ATM water-resistance rating for everyday water exposure and swimming. The 41mm model is available in Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, and Satin Pyrite finishes, while the 45mm version is offered in Matte Black, Polished Silver, and Satin Pyrite. Additional bands, such as a Stephen Curry edition, are included.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chipset, the Pixel Watch 5 boasts improved performance compared to its predecessor. Storage capacity has doubled to 64GB, paired with Wear OS 7 and built-in Gemini Intelligence, promoting proactive assistance for wearable devices. Connectivity features Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Ultra-Wideband, with LTE models enabling cellular network connection independently of a phone.

The Pixel Watch 5 showcases improved sleep tracking accuracy and includes SpO2 monitoring, ECG, skin-temperature sensing, and Loss of Pulse Detection. The watch also incorporates built-in GPS for tracking outdoor activities. Battery life is slightly extended this generation, with the 41mm model offering 332mAh and lasting up to 30 hours with the always-on display or 48 hours in Battery Saver mode.

The 45mm version uses a 465mAh battery, delivering up to 40 hours with the always-on display or 72 hours in Battery Saver mode. Both models can recharge to 50% in around 15 minutes using Google's Quick Charge Dock. Starting at $399 for the 41mm Wi-Fi version and $499 for the LTE version, the 45mm Wi-Fi model costs $429, and the LTE version is priced at $529.
