Global Water Resources Non-GAAP EPS of $0.04 misses by $0.01, revenue of $17.8M beats by $1.89M

Karachi residents are facing further financial strain as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has announced a uniform 7.05% increase in water and sewerage charges. This is the second significant hike in just two years, following a 23% rise in September 2024. The latest decision, approved by the KWSC Board of Directors on August 10, 2026, aims to boost the utility's revenue and ensure sustainable resources for water supply, as well as maintenance and rehabilitation of the sewerage network.

Residents, who have already been struggling with inconsistent water supply and exorbitant bills, have expressed outrage over the latest hike, with some arguing that it is unjust to impose a seven percent increase on top of already high water costs. KWSC officials maintain that the revision is necessary to strengthen the corporation's financial footing and deliver essential services, citing the World Bank-funded Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project as the basis for the decision.
