Global Shapers Abu Dhabi opens applications for 2026-27 cohort

The Global Shapers Abu Dhabi Hub is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 cohort. Interested young people have until August 15 to submit their applications, with the Hub anticipating around 700 applications in total. Of those, approximately 100 candidates will progress to further assessment, with up to 30 new members, known as Shapers, being selected.

The Hub, part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, brings together young people from various professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to work on projects that support Abu Dhabi and its communities. These projects cover areas such as wellbeing, emerging technology, financial literacy, the environment, and intergenerational connections.

AbdelQader Alsaqqaf, the Curator of the Global Shapers Abu Dhabi Hub, noted that this intake will be the largest to date, stating, "For the first time, the young people of Abu Dhabi are being invited into the Global Shapers Community at this scale." The Hub has previously undertaken initiatives like the 'Our Connections' programme, which connected younger and older community members, as well as projects focused on AI education and health and wellbeing.

Members of the Hub are expected to actively contribute to projects, take responsibility for initiatives, and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Hub also provides connections to the wider Global Shapers network, enabling participants to exchange knowledge and collaborate internationally. Rashed AlShamsi, the Vice Curator of the Hub, emphasized that the Hub seeks individuals who are passionate about serving the community, building connections, and bringing ideas to life.
