Fuel subsidy: Tinubu to publish how saved funds were spent

President Bola Tinubu announced that the Federal Government will soon publish a breakdown of how resources saved from the removal of fuel subsidy have been allocated. During a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Tinubu defended the impact of the subsidy removal and highlighted projects funded through long-term financing.

He recalled previous discussions with the union, where they had raised concerns about potential industrial action. Tinubu stated that the discussions were friendly and frank, and he had made his stance on the subsidy clear before running for presidency. The President emphasized that the removal of the subsidy allowed the government to redirect resources towards other areas of the economy.

He assured the union that the benefits of Compressed Natural Gas would eventually reach commuters, urging them to ensure the reduction in operating costs was passed on to the public. Tinubu also commended the union for its cooperation and collaboration, calling it a critical partner in the country's progress.
