Flyhalf Richie Mo’unga to join the New Zealand All Blacks on rugby tour of South Africa

The New Zealand All Blacks have recalled flyhalf Richie Mo’unga for their upcoming rugby tour of South Africa, after a three-year absence. Mo’unga's recall comes as a result of an injury to center Billy Proctor. The 32-year-old, who last played international rugby at the 2023 World Cup, has made 56 appearances for his country. Mo’unga, who spent three seasons at Japanese club Toshiba Brave Lupus, returned to New Zealand this year and now plays for Canterbury in the National Provincial Championship.

He joins the All Blacks for the "Greatest Rivalry" tour, which includes four Tests against the Springboks — three matches in South Africa and one in the United States. Mo’unga's return is also influenced by Damian McKenzie's minor ankle injury among the four flyhalves in the New Zealand touring squad.
