Film academy to honor Colman Domingo, Charlize Theron and John Carpenter at museum gala

Actors Colman Domingo, Charlize Theron and filmmaker John Carpenter are set to receive recognition at the Academy Museum Gala this autumn. This prestigious event, now in its sixth year, is renowned for its star-studded attendance and glamorous atmosphere, rivaling New York's Met Gala. The gala will be held on October 17 in Los Angeles.

The academy's director and president, Amy Homma, expressed admiration for the honorees, stating that their "extraordinary careers exemplify the creativity, innovation, and excellence that continues to move the industry forward." Esteemed figures like Questlove, Judd Apatow, Teyana Taylor, Ludwig Göransson, Seth Rogen, Demi Moore, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw will be part of the host committee.

The event aims to raise funds for the museum's exhibitions, public screenings and other initiatives. Theron and Carpenter will engage in various public programs, including a conversation with the museum's teen council and a screening of "Mad Max: Fury Road" for the actress, and three film screenings of Carpenter's works, including "Halloween," tied to the new exhibition "The Horror Show."
