Europe swelters under fresh wave of extreme heat

Europe is experiencing a new wave of extreme heat, with millions of people facing temperatures above 35C. Britain recorded its fifth-hottest day on record, while parts of France soared past 42C. The heatwave is particularly concerning for hospital patients, with pharmacist Bailey Williamson reporting that people in beds are "really, really sick" and struggling to breathe due to the heat.

The UK is on track to record its hottest ever summer, with temperatures reaching 36C or higher in 40 locations across central and southern England. The heatwave has also fueled wildfires across the continent, leading to evacuations in Greece and blazes damaging homes in England. Scientists blame human-caused climate change for the increasing frequency and intensity of these heatwaves.
