Erykah Badu and The Alchemist Announce Collaborative Album, Share “Witch Doctor”: Stream

Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have announced their collaborative album will be released on August 28th. The duo teased the project with the new single, "Witch Doctor." The album, still without a title, was recorded over an 18-month period in Dallas and Los Angeles. The idea for the album was sparked more than three years ago when Badu expressed her desire to rap over The Alchemist's beat from Mobb Deep's "The Realest."

The two met shortly after and began working on the project, creating a unique sound that blends "soul, blues, funk, rock, jazz, and underground hip-hop." The 6.5-minute single "Witch Doctor" features a soulful beat with percussive instrumentation and explores the concept of witchcraft by naming fictional witches such as Hermione, Elphaba, Glinda, Ursula, Sabrina, and Stevie Nicks.

Pre-orders for the album are now available. Badu and The Alchemist will also embark on a fall North American tour with De La Soul, promoting their upcoming album.
