Diaspora Zongo Youth condemn man captured assaulting detained pastor in viral video

The Zongo Youth of the Diaspora have expressed condemnation over a Muslim man who allegedly assaulted a detained pastor in a viral video. Sibamay Zakaria, the subject of the assault, is captured slapping Apostle Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei in the video. The altercation took place at a police station, where Adjei was reportedly being held over incendiary comments about the Prophet Mohammed.

Zakaria's actions have been deemed unlawful by Al-Asbat Sidi, the Public Relations Officer of the Zongo Youth of the Diaspora. Sidi questioned Zakaria's access to the suspect within police premises and called for the police officers who allowed it to happen to be questioned. The Zongo Youth have praised the police for arresting Adjei and another imam over the inflammatory comments, stating it will help ease tensions among Muslims.

Sidi emphasized the importance of mindful speech, particularly on religious matters, to prevent inflaming religious tensions. Zakaria is currently in police custody and is expected to face court over the alleged assault.
