Da Sts le tecnologie per ridurre il rumore dei Data Center

A breakthrough occurred ten years ago when Torino-based Sts Isolamenti, a company founded in 1978 and specializing in noise control solutions, filed its first patent and accelerated its transformation towards research and development, under the leadership of Giorgio Cellerino, grandson of the founder, who had been leading the family business since 2012.

Today, this small Piedmontese enterprise, with an annual turnover of about 2.5 million euros in 2025 and 20 employees, already has four patents and has been recognized as a pmi innovative company, one of the few in its sector in Italy.

Cellerino explains that over the years, they have developed expertise, particularly in the so-called HVAC sector, which remains their core business. However, in the last two years, they have developed several highly innovative products thanks to a crowdfunding campaign that involved 60 investors, opening doors to a rapidly growing market, that of Data Centers.

Few people know that among the environmental issues associated with these massive servers, indispensable for supporting the spread of Artificial Intelligence, 5G, and Edge Computing, are not only the high energy and water consumption for operation and cooling but also the continuous noise they generate. In some U.S. states, including New York and Virginia, there have been numerous protests against their construction, and many projects have been delayed or canceled due to this reason.

Sts can provide solutions to this problem thanks to a patented technology that makes them particularly competitive in a sector where systems are still quite old and not fully appropriate for the new reality. They provide soundproof enclosures that, when placed outside these machines, allow them to operate as before, while reducing noise and at the same time protecting them from atmospheric agents, thus ensuring greater durability.

In 2025, the company recorded a tenfold increase in noise reduction requests for Data Centers compared to previous years, and the growth prospects are very encouraging: "Last year we generated 2.5 million euros in revenue, this year we reached the same figure already in July and we anticipate to increase revenue fivefold by 2027."

Recently, Sts has concluded a supply for a Data Center in Lazio and is finalizing a contract in Frankfurt: "But we have many projects in progress, with tenders open that, together, reach a value of around 60 million euros," concludes Cellerino.
