Cuffe Parade Metro 3 Underground Parking Facility Yet To Open For Public

Mumbai Metro Line 3's Cuffe Parade underground parking facility remains unopened to the public. The facility, situated at the terminal station on Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as Aqua Line, has a capacity of 4,650 square meters, enough to accommodate over 200 vehicles. The parking area is built above the station and concourse level. However, despite its potential benefits, the facility has not yet been operationalized.

The Cuffe Parade station sits in Mumbai's southern business district, a region experiencing heavy daily commuter traffic. Providing dedicated parking could incentivize more commuters to utilize the Metro instead of driving, thereby reducing congestion and contributing to a greener environment. As mentioned by Ramesh Narayan, a resident of the area, "Public transport needs to be encouraged... A parking facility at Cuffe Parade Metro station could further encourage commuters to use public transport."

Currently, parking facilities are operational at Aarey JVLR station for four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and bicycles, covering around 895 square meters. Similarly, parking for two-wheelers is available at Sahar Road station, with a capacity of 75 bikes. Science Centre station also offers parking for 63 two-wheelers. However, the Cuffe Parade facility, once operational, would be the largest among the parking facilities currently listed for the Aqua Line.
