Class Is in Session: GeForce NOW Levels Up Linux, Chromebooks and More

GeForce NOW is enhancing its cloud gaming capabilities for the back-to-school season. The native Linux version of the GeForce NOW app has officially exited beta, promising better performance, stability, and polish. This update is supported on Ubuntu 24.04 and beyond, and it utilizes a new Flatpack repository for smooth installation and future updates. GeForce NOW now supports RTX performance on Linux devices without the need for local hardware upgrades, compatibility issues, or complicated workarounds.

To provide a smoother gaming experience, GeForce NOW has optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud. This improvement reduces latency, leading to more responsive gameplay, particularly in 60 or 120 frames per second streaming at 1440p and 4K resolutions. Performance members will additionally see higher frame rates in CPU-intensive games, thanks to server software optimizations.

GeForce NOW is not limited to just Linux devices. Chromebook users can leverage their existing devices as gaming workhorses. Supporting Chromebooks can be transformed into high-performance GeForce RTX gaming systems with just a few clicks. This flexibility extends to Macs, Surface devices, Steam Deck, and mobile devices. Furthermore, new Chromebook and Chromebook+ users can take advantage of the Chromebook Fast Pass, which grants them a year of GeForce NOW at no cost, with priority access and no ads.

This season, nine new games have joined GeForce NOW's library. They include Car Wash Simulator (available on Steam since Aug. 10), Pax Autocratica (available on Steam since Aug. 10), Clawed (available on Steam since Aug. 13), Hell Let Loose: Vietnam (available on Steam since Aug. 13), Sandustry (available on Steam and Xbox since Aug. 13), Cat Mail Co. (Steam), Misery (Steam), and Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo.
