Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end Travis Kelce has secured a substantial three-year contract extension, worth over $54 million, for the 2025 season. This deal essentially serves as a one-year, $12 million agreement, enabling Kelce to continue his NFL career during the twilight of his playing days. With the potential to be his final season, Kelce has expressed his commitment to improving upon last year's performance.

"I've still got a lot of love for this game," Kelce told reporters. "I want to go out there and prove to myself that I can play at a better level than I did last year." The four-time All-Pro tight end led the Chiefs in targets, receptions, yards, touchdowns, and receiving first downs during the 2025 season. However, he has also been the source of several costly turnovers due to bobbling passes in traffic, resulting in interceptions for the team.

In a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce dropped a critical pass near the goal line, allowing the Eagles to regain possession with just six yards separating them from a 17-13 lead. In the concluding minutes of the Chiefs' loss to the Houston Texans, Kelce dropped passes on two consecutive snaps, with the second interception leading to the Texans' victory.
