Chandrashekhar Bawankule Says He Won't Object To Jarange's Criticism Amid Maratha Quota Row

Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, an OBC leader, has stated he will not object to Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange's criticism of him. Jarange recently targeted Bawankule after a Maratha-Kunbi OBC certificate was canceled in Beed district. Bawankule, whose wife is from the Kunbi community and daughter-in-law is Maratha, made it clear he is not opposed to Jarange's mockery if it brings him happiness or justice.

He emphasized that his family suffers because of such attacks, and that he has never discriminated based on caste. Bawankule clarified that the revenue department issued 22 lakh Kunbi caste certificates, only one of which was found incorrect. The issue has been resolved, and regular Kunbi certificates are still being issued. The minister is solely responsible for issuing caste certificates, while scrutiny of certificate validity is under the social justice department.

Bawankule also urged the OBC community not to protest on the streets over Jarange's comments, as such actions could lead to social tensions and law and order issues. Any legal disputes should be handled through lawful means.
