CAF support for Infantino is no guarantee of African votes at FIFA election

African football associations remain silent amid controversy surrounding FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who relies on their support to retain his position. Despite CAF's alliance with UEFA in the past, African member associations voted against Sepp Blatter four years ago. Infantino's re-election on March 17 in Morocco faces challenges due to his abandoned plan to divest World Cup commercial rights, which has sparked resistance from UEFA, AFC, and CONCACAF. While some African associations have formally backed Infantino, the force of opposition against him intensifying may alter the outcome.
