Blues must improve 'glaring' away form - Davies

Birmingham City's head coach Chris Davies has identified a glaring issue with the team's away form from the previous season. The Championship side finished 10th in 2025-26, trailing league leaders Hull City by 20 points and second-placed Ipswich Town by 31 goals. While Birmingham City managed 19 home wins and draws, their away performances fell drastically, averaging less than a point per game and securing only 20 points.

Davies recognized the need for improvement, stating that the away form was "pretty glaring." He emphasized the importance of scoring more goals and keeping clean sheets, with Marvin Ducksch being the top scorer on away trips with four goals. The team showed promise in the final third, but lacked the "punch" to capitalize on their opportunities.

Davies aims to bring an improved tactical approach to away games, focusing on faster build-up play, set-pieces, and counter-attacks. The club has added three new signings, but Davies believes quality is more important than quantity in achieving success.
