Bekas ketua audit negara terkilan tak dipanggil prosiding RCI TH, hak didengari dinafikan

Former audit chief Madinah Mohamad was killed because he was not called when the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) for the Tabung Haji (TH) organization held a session, despite having given his explanation to the inquiry panel. Mohamad served as the audit chief from 2017 to 2019 when the RCI session took place. He was at the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) when the RCI session was scheduled.

He waited for more than 30 minutes but was ultimately not called. Mohamad claims he was denied the right to be heard when he was not called during the session, even though he was present and waiting. The RCI report, totaling 211 pages, was submitted in July 2022 and examined the management and operation of TH from 2014 to 2020. The report found that the audit chief was negligent.

The RCI reported that TH's financial statements from 2014 to 2017 were given a clean audit certificate by the audit chief, even though the 2017 financial audit report mentioned an Emphasis of Matter (EOM). EOM is meant to draw attention of users to matters that are properly disclosed in a financial statement and considered important for understanding users of the financial statement.

Ahli Parlimen Muar, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, emphasized the need for fairness as he addressed a special session of the Dewan Rakyat regarding the RCI report last week. He stated that the scope of the RCI included the period from 2014 to 2020 and the report found that TH's financial issues had existed since 2014. However, the financial statements for 2014 to 2016 had already been audited and given a clean audit certificate by the audit chief at that time.
