BCCQ brings UK-Qatar investment opportunities into focus

Doha, Qatar - The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) convened business leaders for a Business Breakfast at the British Embassy Doha, organized in partnership with the UK Department for Business and Trade. The event aimed to discuss the growing commercial relationship between the UK and Qatar, along with emerging opportunities in key sectors.

The UK and Qatar share one of the strongest partnerships in the Gulf, characterized by mutual investment, economic growth, and regional stability. During the Breakfast, attendees were briefed on Qatar's substantial investments in the UK, surpassing £40 billion, across various industries and infrastructure. Conversely, UK investment in Qatar stands at over £6 billion.

Bilateral trade in goods and services totaled £6.2 billion by the end of Q3 2025, with the UK exporting £4.8 billion and Qatar contributing £1.4 billion. The breakfast underscored the importance of the UK-GCC Free Trade Agreement, which, upon enactment, would further expand business opportunities for the UK and GCC Member States.

Rupert Bastick, Vice-Chair of the BCCQ, emphasized the organization's dedication to enhancing the relationship between UK businesses in Qatar, the British Embassy Doha, and the Department for Business and Trade. Bastick stated, "At BCCQ, we are committed to strengthening the relationship between the UK business community in Qatar, the British Embassy Doha and the Department for Business and Trade."

He added, "Our role is to facilitate meaningful two-way dialogue, connecting our members with key representatives and creating opportunities to share insights, identify opportunities and address the issues that matter most to business."
