Bangkok taxi driver and rescuers fight on MRT station after road dispute

A fight broke out between a taxi driver and volunteer rescuers at Fai Chai MRT Station in Bangkok after a road dispute, which later went viral on Thai social media. The confrontation took place around 8 PM on July 20, 2020, at the MRT station. Footage shared by the Facebook page Jung Jing showed the taxi driver, Prachak, defending himself and punching two rescuers, causing them to fall to the ground.

MRT employees and security guards quickly intervened to calm the situation, ensuring no other passengers or public individuals were injured. Prachak claimed a rescuer attempted to follow him closely on a motorcycle and confronted him, allegedly producing a knife and threatening him. He said he drove away to pick up a passenger and was followed to a pickup location where the rescuer allegedly broke all the windows of his taxi, leading him to contact the police.

Prachak also mentioned that the rescuers called additional friends to the scene, resulting in the altercation shown in the video. Supoj, one of the rescuers, provided a different account, stating that Prachak had cut him off multiple times and braked suddenly, causing his vehicle to potentially crash. Supoj admitted to damaging one of the taxi's windows in anger, but denied carrying a knife during the incident.

He claimed he called other rescuers to provide first aid, not to confront the taxi driver, and was unaware that they followed Prachak to the MRT station afterward. Both parties filed complaints against each other, and Bang Khon Non Police Station officers announced they were continuing their investigation to determine the facts and provide justice for both parties.
