Australia 198 all out, record lowest-ever Test score against Bangladesh in Darwin

On Thursday, Bangladesh made a strong impression in their Test series debut in Australia by dismissing the hosts for a record low score of 198 in Darwin. Australia chose to bat first, a decision made by captain Pat Cummins. The Bangladesh pace trio of Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Ebadot Hossain proved to be formidable opponents from the outset.

Mahmud was the standout performer, taking six wickets for 55 runs in just 17 overs, setting a career-best record. Australia's top batsmen fell quickly, with openers Jake Weatherald and Travis Head dismissed in the 12th and 14th overs, respectively. Marnus Labuschagne, who had struggled in recent Tests, was caught behind off Hossain for one run off the third delivery of his innings.

By lunch, Australia had collapsed to 74 for four. Steve Smith, batting at number four, was the lone man holding the fort and contributed significantly to Australia's total. Smith's efforts were not enough to save the innings as he was eventually dismissed by Mahmud on 71. The match marked the first time Bangladesh faced Australia in Australia in 23 years and it also stands as their lowest score against Bangladesh, previously being 217 in Chattogram in 2017.
